I have been having problems for a few months with SL Exchange magic boxes going down every day. Only a few were going down, but it was preventing half of the inventory in my store from appearing on the website.

I tried many things to ressolve the problem:

Rezzed new boxes and copied inventory over to them

Got a parcel on the mainland as a backup

Removed all custom scripts from inventory

Removed items so only a few would appear in each box

Made copies of the boxes

The list just goes on. I finally had to admit that I needed help with this one. Other people that I've talked with over the months hadn't heard of this problem. I posted a detailed message about my problem of unassociated item listings on the SL Exchange forums.

Tigress Stormwind got back to me pretty quickly and gave a few suggestions. Over the next few days, we were able to troubleshoot what the cause of the problem was. Four of my magic box servers have an ampersand in their names.

I fixed the names on one of the sims to remove the ampersands and replace them with the letter "n". Two days later, I saw that these boxes in the woodbridge sim were still up and running without a problem. The dropboxes in the Donalbain were offline. This was evidence enough to prove that the problem was how I named the drop-boxes.

Now that half of my inventory is no longer unassociated, perhaps I can make twice as many sales.
